MCDONOUGH, GA – A Henry County jury returned a guilty verdict today against Jarrett Leopard for possessing child pornography, including images of toddlers being sexually assaulted.
The jury returned the guilty verdict on all 20 counts of sexual exploitation of children after about two hours of deliberations. Leopard was taken into custody.
Judge Pandora E. Palmer will sentence him on Aug. 8. He faces up to 20 years in prison and life-time registration as a sex offender.
The Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force began investigating Leopard after he uploaded several child pornography images from his McDonough home to a public photo-sharing website. Police later got a search warrant and found more than 900 images of child pornography on Leopard’s cell phone.
“Jurors heard evidence on Wednesday that child pornography is a growing problem across Georgia and the state investigated more than 15,000 cases of child pornography last year,” District Attorney Darius Pattillo said. “That is why we have several prosecutors and investigators who serve on the national ICAC team to prosecute child pornography.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Megan Matteucci and Jodi Spiegel of the District Attorney’s Crimes Against Children unit.
